“THE ROMAN SCENE”

Franco Rubartelli shot this photograph in Rome for the April 1, 1969, Vogue. Model Veruschka wears a blue-and-white print tunic and pants with a white sash at the waist, both by Valentino. She also sports a two-tier hairpiece. A yellow Maserati Ghirli drives by in the background. The juxtaposition of the modern and the ancient makes this work feel especially refreshing.
