The Swiss-born American photographer & graphic designer Herbert Matter (1907-1984) was given unprecedented access to the life of American sculptor Alexander Calder (1898-1976) over the course of their friendship. He captured the artist at work in his studios in New York and later in Roxbury, Connecticut. Alexander Calder: Performing Sculpture is at Tate Modern until April 3, 2016.
